- My name is Michele Davenport. I am originally from South Texas, but I now reside in Missouri. I have been married twenty-six years this July. I married a Marine, who has recently retired after twenty-five years of service as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. We have two beautiful daughters, Whitney, 23, who just got married in September of 2012, and Dakota, 21. I love to write, teach, decorate, cook, garden, read, play with my new nikon 5100, go to title boxing, blog, and speak at women's conferences. I have a two-year degree in Design, which I obtained while my children were younger. Although, I am not actively doing this for a living, I still love the art of making something ordinary into something that brings a surprise reaction. Being a military wife means you move often to an array of places, so decorating became my personal challenge: a challenge I gladly took on. Being a military wife was kind of a mysterious way to live. You never knew when your husband would get orders or where your orders would be taking you until the paper hit your hands. I loved traveling, moving, and meeting new people. Some of my fondest memories were made while traveling around the United States with my husband and children. For instance, my oldest daughter learned how to drive a car in New Windsor, New York, and my youngest learned how to ride a two-wheeler bicycle while we were stationed in California. I really developed a passion for cooking while we were stationed in Knoxville, Tennessee. Also, Knoxville is where I finished writing my first book, Ripened on the Vine. I also started and finished my second book while we were stationed in Nebraska, and I actually started another book there as well. I became an ordained minister while stationed in Fort Worth, Texas, and I received my Associates Degree in Biblical Studies while stationed in Missouri. In the midst of all of this, I home-schooled my girls, which I started while we were stationed in Fort Worth. My memories are filled with intense joy because of the people I met along the way and the bonds our family developed. I love being with my family and watching them grow. Every Sunday they come to the house for Sunday supper where we gather for a good meal, good conversation, and board games. Thank you for stopping by. Living a life worth repeating....MD
